Purpose of the Position:
The purpose of this post is to provide operational support in the administration and maintenance of the UNICC infrastructure as well as customer local systems.
Objectives of the Programme:
The objective of the Centre is to provide trusted ICT services and digital business solutions to its Clients and Partner Organizations.
Main duties and responsibilities:
The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Team Lead, Network Operations team (OPBO), and under the guidance of the Head, Infrastructure and Platform Operations Unit (OPBO) within Operations Division and in close collaboration with the Infrastructure, Platform, Networking and Data Center Operations support teams.
- Provide Tier 2 operational support in the administration and maintenance of the UNICC networking infrastructure as well customer networking environment
- Support incident management and request fulfilment across the UNICC and customer’s network infrastructure in collaboration with Tier 3 and other stakeholders, as applicable
- Help identify technical problems and propose solutions in line with problem and resolution management processes
- Participate in new projects and deployment of new solutions for UNICC and customers
- Provide support capacity to conduct network assessment, project support, and other related activities
- Recommend enhancements to the network operations and design where appropriate
- Monitor, analyze and propose performances optimization of the supported infrastructure and systems.
- Develop and maintain detailed technical and graphical documentation as needed
- Participate in the development/update of tools and scripts to improve the automation of the supported systems
- Participate in service coverage arrangement such as oncall duty services and other support coverage arrangements, if and when required
Others:
- Collaborate actively with tier 2 team leaders, tier 3, Service Desk, Service Management team and other technical teams in UNICC to ensure efficient delivery of UNICC services
- The incumbent may be required to act as Officer-In-Charge of the team, during the absence of the Team Leader
- Provide other ad hoc support either within the team or in other teams as required – this includes the participation in special projects or support to service delivery for short period of time on a part-time or full time basis upon request from the senior management
Recruitment Profile
Experience and Skills required:
Essential:
- A minimum of six (6) years of relevant work experience in the IT sector including: work experience in supporting and/or operating enterprise LAN, Data Center, Voice networks and WAN environments and related services in a complex heterogenous environment
- Proven experience in administering and troubleshooting different networking solutions and components (Firewalls, Cisco devices, Routers and switches, Checkpoint devices, VPNs and WIFI solutions)
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP protocol and networking routing protocols including OSPF, BGP
- Ability to configure and provide support for load balancer solutions such as F5 and/or Citrix NetScaler’s Load Balancers and Application Delivery Controllers
- Good understanding and knowledge of network management and monitoring tools
- Ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision
- Customer-centric approach to delivery and problem solving
Desirable:
- Working knowledge in shell scripting and automation tools
- Experience with service reporting and business analytics
- Good knowledge of service management methodology
- Experience with Linux and/or Windows Systems Administration
Education*:
Essential:
- Graduation from secondary school supplemented by specialized training in ICT
Desirable:
- Certifications in network administration
Languages:
- English: Expert knowledge is required
- Spanish: Intermediate knowledge is desirable

Eligibility:
This position is subject to local recruitment pursuant to staff rule 4.4 of the United Nations Staff Rules. All staff in the General Service and related categories shall be recruited in the country or within commuting distance of each office, irrespective of their nationality and of the length of time they may have been in the country. A staff member subject to local recruitment shall not be eligible for the allowances or benefits exclusively applicable to international recruitment.
Compensation:
Annual Salary Estimation (net of tax at single rate):
- Valencia, Spain: EUR 44,839
