The Program Associate is the entry level position for program work at IRI and provides administrative and programmatic support for current and developing programs in the Asia-Pacific. IRI will hire multiple program associates who will provide administrative, programmatic, and other support within or across sub-regions: Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, and South Asia.

Position Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in political science, international relations, or related field.
  • 0-1 years of professional experience in international development or related field.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint required.
  • Budgeting and procurement experience preferred.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • International experience preferred, particularly in the Asia-Pacific.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write an Asia-Pacific language preferred.

Primary Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Tracks and follows-up on pending procurement requests and approvals, including processing payments.
  • Assists in drafting and submitting contracts and subawards.
  • Assists in monitoring project spending and projecting costs.
  • Drafts quarterly, semi-annual, final, and other relevant reports for funders.
  • Edits and summarizes weekly reports for internal and funder audiences.
  • Updates program databases, procurement trackers, etc.
  • Provides logistical support for meetings when necessary.
  • Assists with program monitoring and evaluation (M&E), including participating in regular M&E calls, tracking compliance with monitoring, evaluation and learning plans, and identifying where adjustments need to be made.
  • Maintains program SharePoint organization.
  • Participates in program design and strategy brainstorming sessions.
  • Participates in business development, such as writing assigned proposal sections and drafting budgets.
  • Participates in Asia Division-wide initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
