The Opportunity

The purpose of this pipeline post is to identify ready to acquire talents for our Programme Operations Team.

The Project Coordinator will be the principal representative of the project and have leadership responsibility for the overall management of the assigned award, which might be implemented directly or through local partners. S/he will provide strategic, operational and technical leadership to successful implementation of high quality, in coordination with other stakeholders. The Project Coordinator will ensure adherence to overall technical and programmatic quality in implementation, compliance with donor rules and regulations, and the timely submission of all deliverables, including work plans, budget forecasts, performance monitoring plans, and reports as required. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for the overall direction and coordination of the activities of any sub-recipient partners under the agreement in coordination with the project team. S/he will be expected to conduct regular visits to other programme locations.

Note: In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

In order to be successful you will bring/have:

  • At least 3 years of experience in the field of child protection (preferably social services) and Livelihood.
  • Experience in project management (e.g. monitoring, reporting).
  • Education in BSc/BA/BEng level preferably in Social Work, but other fields such as Human Rights Law, International Relations, Political Sciences, Social Sciences, Development Studies or similar can also be relevant, or equivalent field experience.
  • Excellent knowledge about the Livelihood, Social Cohesion and Child Protection sectors.
  • Previous experience in complex case management cases and interdisciplinary interventions, with excellent negotiation skills.
  • Proven excellency in delivering capacity building efforts in the field of child protection, including leading trainings, and willingness to dedicate time to staff and partner development.
  • Experience of and commitment to working through systems of community participation and accountability.
  • Ability to write clear and well-argued assessment and project reports.
  • Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy.
  • Able to work independently as well as in team to ensure timely results of high quality.
  • Capacity and willingness to be flexible in difficult working circumstances.
  • Commitment to and understanding of child rights, the aims and principles of Save the Children, and humanitarian standards such as the Sphere Charter and the Code of Conduct. In particular, a good understanding of the Save the Children mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin our support.
  • Strong communication (written and spoken), and interpersonal skills in English and Turkish, with experience in working with multicultural teams

Position holder will be based in Istanbul, therefore legal right to work in Turkey is necessary at the time of application.
