CARE USA

The Senior Technical Advisor will oversee and support multiple in-country teams to ensure high program quality and consistency, and that products are designed with the user in mind (using human-centered design preferably), and leverage research and customer insights to define meaningful design changes. The position will also be responsible for ensuring team hires are in place and partnerships are secured. The position will be key to ensuring coordination across all stakeholders, and that partners are actively engaged in the learning network. To ensure programs not only deliver direct impacts but also inform the broader financial inclusion and MSE community, the position will be responsible for capturing and communicating key learnings for CARE and the industry. Finally, this role will be responsible for regular communication and reporting to Funders on progress, lessons and challenges, in close coordination, communication, and rapport-building with the CARE USA and country teams.

Responsibilities:

  1. Technical and Program Leadership
    • Serve as a key technical team leader for a portfolio of projects, responsible for overall program performance and strategy. Work closely with CARE in-country program teams, help define plans, establish and guide partnerships, build team capacity, track results and solve problems. You play an important role in building capacity in collaboration with country-level program managers and leadership. Serve as the primary point of contact and technical relationship manager with program funders.
  2. Portfolio Growth
    • Alongside the Director for Women’s Entrepreneurship you will play a key role in cultivating potential funders, assessing new business opportunities and developing successful proposals. This function provides substantial opportunities to inform CARE’s overall approach to Women’s Entrepreneurship programming and where to focus energy and resources. The function will include helping to co-design initiatives, brokering partnerships, generating budgets and developing proposals and pitch materials.
  3. Thought Leadership, Research, Learning and Representation
    • Work with the WE team to develop communications strategies, channels and events that will build CARE’s credibility and drive adoption of key insights emerging from our work. Serve as a steward of a shared learning agenda with WE project teams, embed learning questions and communications agendas in team work plans. Oversee and make key decisions with CARE USA and global teams on research activities and ensure that research findings are promoted globally, represent WE with key external audience.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Business Administration, Financial Services, Social Entrepreneurship or other related area.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and design tailored products that successfully serve specific under-served market segments, particularly growth-oriented women entrepreneurs.
  • Adept communicator capable of engaging and motivating stakeholders and partners at every level and across sectors.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to formulate recommendations and advice for senior leadership.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise effectively at senior levels across cultures.
  • 7-10 years of experience working within or as an advisor to financial service providers to develop and commercialize products, particularly digital payments and credit.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory.
  • Adept communicator capable of engaging and motivating stakeholders and partners at every level and across sectors.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to formulate recommendations and advice for senior leadership
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise effectively at senior levels across cultures.
  • Past experience with the design of gender equitable products and programs.
  • Track record of successfully managing large, complex projects, including a strong background in high level planning, organizational and time management skills, attention to detail, flexibility, and the ability to work under pressure to meet challenging deadlines.
  • Proven understanding of digital financial solutions and digital tools that can effectively target low-income entrepreneurs.
