We have developed a mobile savings model that allows farmers to invest their own funds in high-quality seed, fertilizer, and agricultural training to increase their harvest and income by 50-100%. About the Role:

We are looking for a mission-oriented software engineering leader who wants to be a part of making a huge impact on smallholder farmers. You will report to the Director of Engineering and lead one of two newly formed teams. The Core Services team operates the suite of services that provide important operational and impact data for all of MyAgro. The Field Applications teams builds custom user interfaces that our staff use to improve the effectiveness of their work with farmers in the field. Our engineers are distributed throughout Africa, the US, and Europe. This position is remote, and you will work in the GMT time zone for the majority of your work day (preferably within the GMT+4/-4 band).

You Will:

  • Manage a small software team: meet weekly with each member, evaluate performance, and adjust team roles
  • Lead software development from technical design through deployment
  • Collaborate with product managers to scope and plan projects
  • Work with the team to improve the architecture, standards, and development process.
  • Plan and lead team meetings

You Have

  • The ability to function and relate effectively in culturally diverse situations
  • 4+ years of successful software engineering delivery on a variety of project and languages
  • A commitment to rigorous coding practices like Test-Driven Development (TDD)
  • Experience managing distributed agile projects – standup, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
  • A desire to help other engineers improve and make the most of their careers
